Wimmer Yamada and Caughey provided landscape design services for two naval Child Development Centers on North Island, Coronado. All programmatic elements, including exterior play areas, were influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of child development and learning.

Specifics:

• Each Child Development Center is designed to accommodate 200 children ranging in age from infant to pre-school
• Provided site master planning and design documents for planting, irrigation, hardscape, and play equipment
• Designed for interactive play and learning features to include sensory experiences such as art and music elements, varied hardscape finishes and surfaces, interactive planting areas, and sand and water play features
