San Pasqual Academy

We recently won a multi-team design build competition with the County of San Diego to build the new residential and administrative facilities at the San Pasqual Academy. After the 2007 fires a number of residences and administrative buildings were destroyed with subsequent site damage from heavy rainfall and stormwater damage. Our role in the design competition was to establish a methodology for creating drought tolerant landscape designs offering the resident students opportunities for daily education and involvement in agricultural practices. On-site rainwater harvesting systems, fire protection solutions and interpretative exhibits all lend themselves to increasing the awareness of the local environment to the students and staff. We also hope to provide mentoring to the kids about the landscape design and to bring awareness to them regarding career opportunities that focus on sustainability and green building development.
