LEED Staff
I challenged our staff last year to get involved in the USGBC program for LEED certification. This is an important part of our daily involvement with virtually every project requiring some level of LEED compliance. The challenge was well received with over 85% of us LEED AP or LEED Green Associate certified. LEED is also something important to us as Landscape Architects because of the pending LEED Sites Initiative Program being developed as a joint collaboration between ASLA, the University of Texas Austin, Lady Bird Wildflower Center and the United States Botanical Garden. This certification will allow non-building sites to be certified for LEED and will follow similar guidelines set forth for building development. The current program is in the testing stage using over 150 selected case studies and should be officially open for certification by 2012.
